It costs an average of $1,200 per child a year to provide a quality after school and summer program. Support from donors, grants and the community is imperative in order to meet the needs of the children and sustain our program for the future.
ACES serves over 200 children at the site in Bigfork. Over 80% of the kids involved are illegible for the National Free and Reduced Lunch Program which means they fall below the national means and received after school care at ACES for free. The USDA reports that one in five Montana children experience hunger on a regular basis. We feed the children at ACES dinner and snacks every day of our program.
The hours between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. are the peak hours for juvenile crimes and experimentation with drugs, alcohol, cigarettes and sex.
